The American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence will present a free CLE Teleconference on July 24, 2002 from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. EST entitled "The Indian Child Welfare Act and Domestic Violence". Our expert faculty includes, Honorable B.J. Jones, Chief Judge Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Tribal Court and Director of the Northern Plains Tribal Judicial Institute at the University of North Dakota School of Law and Honorable Melvin R. Stoof, Chief Judge of the Jicarilla Apache Tribal Courts in Dulce, New Mexico. Discussion will focus on the background and history of the Indian Child Welfare Act as well as the practical aspects of representing victims of domestic violence in such cases. This teleconference is open to all interested individuals. There is no registration fee and the materials will be available to download from the commission's web site. It most certainly will provide valuable, cutting edge legal information about domestic violence and the Indian Child Welfare Act. Registration will be up on the website on July 2.
